I finally researched whether my local Acme supermarket takes printable grocery coupons you can find online. It seems they do! And they double all coupons up to $1.00 as well. This could be a real way to save some money!

How do you use a free printable grocery coupon for maximum savings?

Free Printable Grocery Coupon – Shop to a List

It’s never a good deal to buy things just because you have a coupon. Make a list of the groceries you need and then stick to it.

Free Printable Grocery Coupon – Combine With Sales

If you want to be one of those super coupon ladies (or men) who get all their groceries for half price, you have to combine coupon use with sales. Spend an hour with your coupon organizer and the sales circular from your local store.

Free Printable Grocery Coupon – Compare Prices

A tube of name brand toothpaste on sale and with a coupon may still cost more than a tube of dollar store toothpaste. And you know what? They are made from the same exact stuff. Make sure you are getting the best deal.

Using a free printable grocery coupon makes sense for saving money.

One of the most popular boxed meals on the market today is macaroni and cheese. You can purchase name brand types with differently shaped pasta and fancy three cheese sauce, or you can go for the economy box of powdered cheese and plain elbow noodles. When money is tight, you reach for the cheaper box and call it dinner.

It does not have to be served straight out of the box, however. After all, macaroni and cheese is not a complete meal. It does not cover all the basic food groups and provides very little necessary protein. Below are five meal ideas, all costing under $5.00 to make, that starts with macaroni and cheese.

Pasta is one of those things that most people make too much of. Once dinnertime is over and people realize their eyes were bigger than their stomachs, you’re left with a bunch of leftover pasta. Throwing it out would be one option, but that is basically the same as throwing a money. If you want to live a frugal lifestyle, you have to make use of every bit of leftover food that you have. The savings will add up over time.

One of the things to do with leftover pasta is simply save it for a meal the next day. It is very easy to throw the pasta and a little bit of water or sauce in a pot or bowl and heat it up again. In the microwave, this is even faster.

If you want to get fancy with your leftover pasta you can add it to other dishes. What you can use it for depends upon the amount you have left over. In fact, I often make extra pasta when I’m cooking it for dinner just so I can use it again in other meals. Cooked pasta will not go bad in the fridge very quickly. You can easily use it for 2 to 3 days after you initially cooked it as long as you allow it to dry out or get soggy.

Soup is one of the good meals to add leftover pasta to. Whether you make homemade soup with chopped vegetables and stock, or just opened a can and stick it in a microwave bowl, the addition of leftover pasta and turn it into more of a complete meal.

You can do the same thing with casseroles. Get out all your leftover vegetables, some meat or beans and the leftover pasta. Mix it up, pour it into a Pyrex dish, sprinkle on some cheese if desired and then bake it in the oven. You will have a delicious and very easy casserole to eat.

Storing your bulk toilet paper in the closet may seem obvious. However, many people only think about storing the toilet paper in the bathroom. Many home closets have leftover space: on a very high shelf, on the floor under hanging clothing, or in a back corner.

Bananas are usually one of the cheapest fruits you can find at the grocery store. They are also really yummy, highly nutritious, and able to be used in many different foods (raw, baking, etc.) Unfortunately, bananas also go bad sitting on the counter rather quickly. There are ways to help.

First, purchase bananas that still have a little hint of green to them. My kids actually prefer eating them this way, but they will ripen at home fast enough for those who prefer a banana that is all yellow. Put the banana bunch in a sealed plastic bag. Bananas produce some gas that actually hastens ripening. The bag will help the bananas stay fresh for up to two weeks.

After your bananas are past peak ripeness, there are so many things you can do with them. I bet most frugal and simple living folk know about making banana bread or banana nut muffins. Bananas can also be frozen and used in smoothies or in making fruity “ice cream.” They can even be used to thicken some soups!
