Can You Negotiate at Best Buy?

Posted by Save Money Frugal Tips

I’m in the market for a new computer; my current one is about six years old. So, just to get an idea about what is out there and price ranges, a friend and I headed over to Best Buy.

Of course, the sales-dude swept over and asked if I needed any help. I asked him some questions, found out what could be tweaked on a particular computer (Ordering only what you need and nothing extra on a computer can save you big money!) and then, after he quoted me the price, asked him if he could do any better.

My friend was mortified! “What are you doing?” she cried. “You can’t haggle at Best Buy!”

She’s wrong. While you may not get the actual price of the item changed, you can often get extras for free or at reduced prices. You should try to save money this way on every big-ticket item you buy. I have never paid delivery charges for any appliance or furniture. Negotiating can be fun, and it always saves you money.
